Billy D. Peel is the Founder and Managing Partner of Mortgage Capital Services LLC, bringing more than four decades of experience in mortgage banking, residential and commercial lending, real estate finance, and real estate brokerage.
A graduate of the University of Georgia, Billy earned a BBA in Real Estate and Urban Development with a minor in Finance and later completed advanced graduate-level coursework in finance. That combination of real estate and financial education became the foundation for a career spanning virtually every side of the mortgage and real estate industries.
Billy began his mortgage lending career in Augusta, Georgia, with Nationwide Lending Group, formerly the mortgage lending division of Southern Finance Corporation. Southern Finance Corporation's roots in Augusta real estate extended beyond mortgage lending through its association with E.G. Meybohm and the real estate business that ultimately evolved into today's Meybohm Real Estate.
During his tenure with Nationwide, Billy advanced through a series of lending and management positions. He managed residential mortgage origination and construction-lending operations in Athens and Atlanta before ultimately serving as Executive Vice President of Commercial Lending in Atlanta.
Billy later became a principal and Chief Executive Officer of Mortgage Trust Corporation in Atlanta, a full-service Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA-approved mortgage lender with Direct Endorsement authority. After selling his ownership interest in Mortgage Trust, he continued his career in banking and residential mortgage lending with Regions Bank and Union County Bank.
At Union County Bank, Billy established and managed the bank's Augusta mortgage operation, supporting residential mortgage lending for 17 community banks throughout Georgia. He directed mortgage operations and correspondent-bank support until returning to private business in 1995.
That year, Billy established the mortgage brokerage company that ultimately became Mortgage Capital Services LLC. Over the years, the company has provided residential and commercial mortgage brokerage, loan processing, closing coordination, and real estate financing services.
In 2003, Billy and his investment partners formed The Fripp Group LLC and acquired the Fripp Island Real Estate Company along with other business operations on Fripp Island, South Carolina. Billy served in senior ownership and management roles while continuing the operations of Mortgage Capital Services. After selling his interest in The Fripp Group, he returned his primary business activities to the Augusta area, where Mortgage Capital Services LLC continues to operate today.

Today, Billy draws on decades of traditional mortgage lending experience to help borrowers evaluate home financing options, whether purchasing a home, refinancing an existing mortgage, accessing home equity, or developing a mortgage strategy aligned with their overall financial objectives.
For older homebuyers, Billy specializes in FHA-insured Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECMs) for Purchase, a financing option designed to help qualified seniors purchase a home while preserving more of their available cash and retirement assets. He works directly with senior homebuyers and homeowners and, when appropriate, collaborates with their financial planners, wealth-management professionals, CPAs, and elder-law and estate-planning attorneys. His objective is to help senior borrowers understand their financing options and structure a mortgage solution that fits their individual housing, financial, and retirement objectives.
