Mortgage banking & program leadership
Billy D. Peel
Managing Partner · NMLS #332044
His education in real estate and finance became the foundation for a career that has evolved through virtually every side of the mortgage and real estate industries.
Billy began his mortgage lending career in Augusta with Nationwide Lending Group, formerly the mortgage lending division of Southern Finance Corporation. He advanced through lending and management positions with Nationwide, managing residential mortgage originations and construction-lending offices in Athens and Atlanta. His tenure culminated in Atlanta, where he served as Executive Vice President of Commercial Lending.
He later served as a principal and Chief Executive Officer of Mortgage Trust Corporation in Atlanta, a full-service Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA-approved mortgage lender with Direct Endorsement authority. After selling his ownership interest, he continued his career in banking and residential lending with Regions Bank and Union County Bank. At Union County Bank, he established and led the bank’s Augusta mortgage operation, supporting residential mortgage lending for 17 community banks across Georgia, until returning to private business in 1995.
That year, Billy established the mortgage brokerage company that became Mortgage Capital Services LLC, providing mortgage brokerage, loan processing, closing, and real-estate financing services. In 2003, he and his investment partners formed The Fripp Group LLC and acquired Fripp Island Real Estate Company and other Fripp Island businesses. He later returned his primary business activities to Augusta, where MCS continues to operate.
Today, Billy’s practice focuses on reverse mortgage lending, including FHA-insured Home Equity Conversion Mortgages and proprietary reverse mortgage programs, with particular emphasis on reverse mortgages for home purchase, which may expand housing and financial options for older homeowners and homebuyers. He works with senior homeowners and homebuyers and collaborates with realtors, financial planners, bank wealth-management professionals, elder-law attorneys, and divorce attorneys when housing, home equity, and retirement assets intersect.
Billy holds Real Estate Broker and Mortgage Broker licenses in Georgia and South Carolina.
